NORTHERN PRESBYTERY TO VENTURE INTO REAL ESTATE

The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Northern Presbytery has embarked on a construction of fifteen flats near Lukupa Nursing School in Kasama district that will rented out as boarding facilities to the students.

Northern Presbytery Bishop, Rev.Maybin Mulenga said the project be constructed in phases at a cost of over K650,000.00.

“On 15th August, we are going launch the construction of the first phase of five flats at the cost of K300, 000 out which K150, 000 has already been raised,” Bishop Mulenga said

Bishop Mulenga said the project is aimed at to mitigating on the financial challenges the church faces in view of erratic Sunday contributions from members.

He said the Church is taking advantage of accommodation shortage at the nursing school which has a population of about 200 students and provide boarding facilities that will broaden the financial base for the Church in the Presbytery.

He said the Church in the presbytery has enough mission land which can used for strategic investment using proceeds from projects such as the boarding facility that will be constructed.

Meanwhile Bishop Mulenga disclosed that an aquaculture project is under way at Kawimbe mission in Mbala District.

The Bishop said so far twenty fish ponds are being sunk with the help of synod projects department and will be completed by the end of the year 2022.

He said the project will be a milestone in contributing to economic empowerment and provision of required nutrition to the of the community once it takes off.
