SYNOD OF THE UNITED CHURCH OF ZAMBIA SENDS FORTH 37 FOOT-SOLDIERS

MINDOLO – KITWE: 12/12/2021 – The United Church of Zambia University (UCZU) handed over thirty-
seven (37) Student Ministers to Synod of the United Church of Zambia for Licensing. This ecclesiastical

function was officiated by the Synod Bishop, His Grace the Rev Sydney Sichilima and General
Secretary of the United Church of Zambia the Rev Chipasha Musaba at Mindolo congregation.
In attendance were the United Church of Zambia University Chancellor Prof Dickson Mwansa; the Vice
Chancellor Rev Dr Kapembwa Kondolo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Rev Dr Jonathan Kangwa; Synod
Communications and Media Relations Secretary, Rev Dr Dennis Sikazwe;; Synod Mission and
Evangelism Secretary (MES), Rev Morgan Baxton Silwenga; the Director of Mindolo Ecumenical
Foundation (MEF), Rev Mbowe; the Executive Director of Theological Education by Extension in Zambia
(TEEZ), the Rev Canon Dennis Milanzi, the Copperbelt Presbytery Bishop, the Rev Dr Charles Lungu;
Luapula Presbytery Bishop, the Rev Darius Chitalu, and the Mpongwe Bee Keeping Limited (MBE)
Manager, Deac Christabel Mumba. Also in attendance were the Acting Bishops from Muchinga and
Lusaka Presbyteries, and a member of the Board of Governors, Mr Tom Kamwendo.
In his handover speech, the Vice Chancellor urged the candidates to follow God’s best. He further
admonished them to firmly deal with the prevailing broken homes, hate speech, hunger and lack of love
in the nation. He hinted that they were to serve as role models called to restore health were it was
lacking, and generally contribute to the transformation of society. The candidates were further advised to
take ministry easy and avoid becoming complainants or lamenters.
In his response speech, the representative of the licentiate Probationers asked the United Church of
Zambia to consider introduction of meal allowances to theological students and Sending congregations
assuming the responsibility of paying tuition fees to their students. However, the Synod Bishop of the
United Church of Zambia in his homily entitled “Preach the Word”, charged the newly Licensed
Probationers to preach the Word and not politics, hatred, nor division. He also urged them to keep their
heads in all situations by being focused. He also warned them against being big headed and being
preoccupied with earthly material things, but each one of them to run their own race.
It also came to light that the Vice Chancellor, the Rev Dr Kapembwa Kondolo whose tenure of office had
come to an end was to bid farewell on 26th December 2021 in Luanshya, and would be replaced by the Rev Dr Jonathan Kangwa.
The General Secretary announced that Synod had stationed the new Licentiate Probationer Ministers to
the following Presbyteries: Bweupe Simon (Muchinga), Chanda Francis (Southern), Chibale Chalwe (
Luapula), Chibwe Bonaventure (Muchinga), Chilenge Eric ( Southern), Chileshe Edward (Eastern),
Chitalu Mable (Luapula), Chitimbwa John (Lusaka), Kabolwe Daniel ( Luapula), Kambole Lishebele(
Luapula), Kandandu Steven ( Luapula), Kasoka Sanny ( Southern), Likando Nyambe (Northern), Longa
Kamanga Precious ( Western), Mphande Bina Ruth ( Eastern), Mukololo Muyoyeta (Northern), Mukuwa
Karen ( Lusaka). Mumba Kelvin ( North Western), Mushota Kennedy ( Western), Mumba Lillian
(Eastern), Mutambo Alinani ( Northern), Muyangwa Eric (Northern), Mwale Patson Cosmas (Western),
Mwango Erastus ( Western), Nambela Grace ( Central), Ng’oma Cephas (North Western), Ngosa Mike (
Muchinga), Nyimbiri Kelvin (Muchinga), Phiri Harrison ( Western), Siantwala Christine ( Central),
Sichone Panji (Southern), Simuchenje Machuzi ( Central), Simukoko Clever ( North Western), Sinjela
Maclean (Muchinga), Sinkamba Gidion Moses ( Northern – Chaplain), Siwale Thomas ( Western), and
Tembo Kawanje ( Lusaka)
