UCZ ST MARGARET’S – KITWE: 24/04/2022 –The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Synod on Sunday 24th April 2022 commissioned Rev. Dr. Mbita Sikazwe to serve as mission partner in the United Church of Jamaica and Cayman Islands (UCJCI).
Rev. Dr. Sikazwe was commissioned in a service that was officiated by the United Church of Zambia Synod Bishop Rev. Sydney Sichilima at St.Margarets Congregation in Kitwe.
Speaking during the same event, Guest of Honour, former Synod Bishop Rev, Mutale Mulumbwa, encouraged Rev. Dr. Sikazwe to keep alive the vision of being a missionary and share his whole life experience with colleagues, as Jesus Christ did.
And in his statement of call, Rev. Dr. Sikazwe narrated that his desire to serve as a mission partner is traced back from 1989 when he visited Botswana as UCZ Northern Presbytery Youth Worker on a trip for the Sunday School Teachers.
He said since then, he made several attempts to serve in a different mission context and could only be fulfilled this year when he was in invited to Serve in Jamaica.
Rev. Dr. Sikazwe pledged to continue to lift the Lord’s banner high and that he will represent the United Church of Zambia and the ecumenical family well.
Rev. Dr. Sikazwe served as Minister of Word and Sacraments in Zambia for 30 years in Muchinga, Lusaka and Copperbelt Presbyteries.
He also served as Lecturer at the United Church of Zambia Theological College for 14years. He also served as UCZ College (University) Head librarian before he was appointed as Communications Secretary, the position he served for a period of 8 years.
The UCJCI appointed Rev. Dr. Mbita Sikazwe as Director of Library and Media Services at the International University of the Caribbean in Kingston, Jamaica.
He will be the 5th Minister among those already serving the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
Earlier in 2022, the United Church of Zambia commissioned Rev.Thomas Phiri and Rev Patrick Banda to serve in Jamaica, joining Rev. Lembe Sivile and Rev. Jane Kaluba who are also serving as mission Partners with UCJCI.
