UCZ ST ANDREWS CONGREGATION –LUSAKA 07/05/2022 –The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Synod Bishop, Rev. Sydney Sichilima, on 7th May ,2022 led scored of Church leaders and members who thronged UCZ St. Andrews Congregation, for a memorial service of the Mr. Fred Kapuka Kabonde.
The late Mr. Kaonde was the spouse to the immediate former United Church of Zambia General Secretary, Reverend Dr. Peggy Kabonde.
Speaking when he delivered a homily, drawn from Psalm 23:1-6, 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 and 2 Timothy 4:7-8, Bishop Sichilima said the death of a Christian believer does not mean it’s the end of one’s story.
He encouraged the family members to continue looking up to God for consolation and remain resolute in their service to God .
And Lusaka Presbytery Bishop, Reverend. Dr. Lordwell Siame, in a tribute on behalf of the UCZ, eulogised the late Mr. Kaonde for being an innovative, pious to God, wise, and a humble leader who related well with people from all walks of life.
Others who eulogized the late Mr. Kabonde include the Children, and Rev.Mundemba Presbytery and the Kapeya family.
Speaking in a tribute on behalf of all Children, Mapalo Kabonde said children to the late will continue to appreciate their father for, among many things, teaching them the value of hard work and academic excellence.
And Reverend Mundemba, in a tribute read on her behalf by Deaconess Silwenga, described the late Mr. Kabonde as a humorous, resourceful and generous person.
The Kapeya family sung a song in honour of Mr. Fred Kabonde’s Contribution.
After the Church service, the Congregants proceeded to the Leopards Hill Memorial Park for the service of unveiling and dedication of the tombstone which was presided by the United Church of Zambia General Secretary, Rev. Chipasha Musaba.
Also in attendance during the memorial service were the members of staff at UCZ Synod headquarters, the clergy and the laity from Lusaka and other Presbyteries.
Mr. Frederick Kapuka Kabonde passed away on December ,2020 in Lusaka at the age of 61
In honour of the late Mr. Fred Kabonde’s legacy, the family has named and dedicated a retreat center based at Kafue Bridge farm after him.
The Retreat Centre was unveiled at a family gathering soon after the memorial service.
