UCZ SYNOD HEADQUARTERS – LUSAKA: 03/05/2023– The United Church of Zambia has commended Global Ministries for the partnership the body shares with the United Church of Zambia.
The General Secretary Reverend Chipasha Musaba says Global Ministries have been crucial in supporting the mission of the Church such as training of the Church personnel and climate change , among other areas.
The Reverend Musaba says the United Church of Zambia has been growing at a faster rate hence the increasing demand for human resource development.
‘We would like to put it on record that the support has not gone unnoticed. The impact you make in the mission is great,”Said Rev Musaba.
The General Secretary said the Church is making strides towards implementation of the Investment policy to ensure that the Church is self-sustaining and empower vulnerable communities where the Church has been doing its mission.
He said the Church has designated Sundays for the lower courts to retain collections for investment purposes
“For example, Luapula Presbytery has invested into water transport; North-Western Presbytery has invested in selling honey, Muchinga Presbytery has invested in block making ventures ,apart from other activities being carried out in different Presbyteries,”said Rev.Musaba.
And Rev Musaba expressed gratitude over the ecumenical relationship that exists between the United Church of Zambia and Global ministries.
He was speaking when the Global Ministries, Relations Minister for Africa, Dr. Kahala Canon, paid a courtesy call to the Synod Headquarters, Wednesday.
Meanwhile,Global Ministries,Relations Minister for Africa,Kahala Canon thanked the United Church of Zambia for the work the Church is doing in partnership with Global Ministries.
Dr. Canon said Global Ministries is helping partners in the areas of climate change and climate adaptation, among other programs.
She disclosed that during her stay in Zambia,she is expected to meet the Council Churches of Zambia leadership,visit the the United Church of Zambia University and the Southern province region as a way of strengthening relations with the Church.
She said her organization is looking forward to building partnerships with Churches of similar interests.
And United Church of Zambia Synod Bishop ,Rev.Bishop Sydney Sichilima thanked Dr.Canon for the visit.
