LUSAKA PRESBYTERY EXPANDS INVESTMENT

LUSAKA –The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Lusaka Presbytery has injected K200,000 towards a chicken rearing project.
The project which is being implemented by the presbytery investment team includes the rearing of 30,000 chickens in a year one cycle.
UCZ Lusaka Presbytery Bishop Dr. Lordwell Siame says the project which will run for five years is focused on supplementing the already existing investment projects.
Bishop Dr. Siame said this initiative is in line with the UCZ vision of raising money outside the normal traditional methods.
He explained that the project will also help reduce the burden that has been observed in raising funds for the Home Empowerment project.
“The Church saw the need to create a consistent cash flow base for the Home Empowerment project and we thought rearing chickens will help us bridge that gap, “he narrated.
And Bishop Siame says through this initiative, the Church hopes to speed up the construction of Manses.
He also added that the profit realized from the business will go towards building capacity among Church workers as well as supporting other mission work.
The five year chicken rearing initiative is anticipated to create job opportunities as well as raise 3 Million kwacha annually and 15 Million Kwacha in 5 years.
