The Synod celebration launch in the North western presbytery were held i9n the Provincial capital Solwezi on 2nd March 2014.
The launch was well planned and was attended by all seven consistories. Each consistory carried a banner and committee members of the presbytery were clad in Golden Jubilee chitenge. Among the invited guests were sister churches, government departments, freedom fighters and founders of the United Church of Zambia in Northwestern province.
About 500 people attended the match past which was led by the Boys Brigade brass band followed by the majorette girls. A member of the Boys Brigade followed immediate behind carrying a big open bible. The procession was then followed by the Presbytery Bishop Reverend David Mujumila, the guest preacher Rev Kapembwa Kondolo, the seven consistories and other dignitaries. Seven consistories are Solwezi East, Solwezi West, Zambezi, Kabompo, Mwinilunga, Kasempa and Mufumbwe.
The match past was flagged off with a prayer by the Presbytery Bishop Rev Mujumila and covered a distance of about 2 kilometres on independence avenue and literally brought Solwezi town to a stand still as the brass band played popular gospel tunes.
The match past, which took nearly 1 hour, also served as an evangelization tool. As the matchers arrived at the church there was a crowd of over 200 worshippers who joined in singing of choruses played by the brass band. Inside the church the boy carrying the big bible presented to the Presbytery Bishop while the girls who had carried the banner also did the same.
The host minister Rev Charity Mulalami Mwale, conducted the order of worship. During the worship service one of the elders made a presentation on the history of the United Church of Zambia in Northwestern province.
