MONGU: 24/09/2022 –The United Church of Zambia Western Presbytery has elected the Rev.Roy Kanchele as Bishop for the second term of office of four years ,from 2023 to 2027.
His four year first term of Office expires in December ,2022. Reverend Kanchele was elected Bishop during the Presbytery Council meeting held in Mongu on Saturday,September 24th,2022.
And speaking earlier during a Pastoral Charge to the Council Meeting , Bishop Kanchele commended Church leaders at all levels in the Presbytery for their dedication towards God’s work.
Bishop Kanchele said although a lot has been achieved so far,there is alot of work that need to be done in the Presbytery.
“The works are ongoing towards securing church land that is threatened of encroachment in various places,”he said
On infrastructure development,Bishop Kanchele said a new school will be put up while plans are under way give facelift to new infrastructure.
” Works are underway for rehabilitation of many of of the aging Church property and a patner has come forward to help build a secondary school at Lwatile, the oldest mission Station in Western Presbytery,”he said
The Presbytery Bishop also encouraged leaders to implore their Congregations to engage in income generating activities to help sustain the Church’s mission.
Prior to his election for the first term as Bishop four years ago ,Rev Kanchele served as Minister in North Western Presbytery.
