LUSAKA,–THE UNITED CHURCH HOUSE: 17/06/2024– The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Synod Management has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Zambia (DofE), a non-governmental organisation supporting young people in career development.
Under the terms of the MoU, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Zambia will spearhead the delivery of the award program, offering support, training, research assistance, insights, and tools, while the UCZ will oversee the administration of the award within its organization, providing management support and equipping award leaders.
Speaking during the signing Ceremony at united House in Lusaka, Friday, UCZ Synod Education Secretary Darius Mumba said the DofE partnership will enable DofE to help equip learners in UCZ with career development skills and capacity-build teachers who will be guiding the learners.
And DofE Director Twaambo Chikoya said his organisation was happy to partner with the UCZ because of the quality education which the church offers through its schools.
” We are happy to help equip teachers and young people for the development of the community.” he said .
Mr. Chikoya said young people could be brilliant in academic work but there was a need to offer them more options beyond white-collar jobs.
He encouraged UCZ congregations to participate in the program as it is available for those in school and out of school.
