CHOMA,–UCZ UCZ ST ANDREW’S CONGREGATION: 26/05/2024- The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) General Secretary Rev. Chipasha Musaba has called the Church to unite as it seeks to accelerate God’s work.
Rev. Musaba said the Church should not allow for itself to be disintegrated adding that by doing so, it is compromising on the mission of God.
He emphasized the need for UCZ to incorporate the principle of the Church’s tagline “All One in Christ” in working together towards reaching God’s call to the body of Christ.
Rev. Musaba was speaking during the reception service for UCZ Southern Presbytery Bishop, Rev. Melvin Mubanga at UCZ St. Andrews Congregation in Choma.
The General Secretary has also advised the Church in Southern Presbytery to acknowledge and celebrate Rev. Mubanga even as he continues in his role as Southern Presbytery Bishop.
“The call to leadership is not a simple responsibility but requires the Church to stand together to seek God’s wisdom and guidance so that the purpose for God’s call is achieved,” he echoed.
Meanwhile, Alec Lishandu, a Mazabuka businessman who graced the occasion commended the Church for working positively despite the numerous financial challenges it faces.
Mr. Lishandu said the tireless effort of the gallant men of God like Rev. Mubanga who are making efforts to bring salvation to mankind must be appreciated.
He said that being a Minister of Word and Sacrament is not an easy undertaking but one that requires support and honor.
“I urge the Church in Southern Presbytery to support the Bishop and his family and honor his contributions to individual lives,” he said.
Mr. Lishandu also noted that the UCZ in Southern Presbytery has recorded significant growth as evidenced by an increase in membership and various developments taking place in most congregations.
The sermon was delivered by UCZ Synod Bishop, Rev.Sydney Sichilima under the theme “When God promises, he also fulfills” derived from Joshua 1:5-6.
