Mwandi Rehabilitated Wards Now Open to the Public

MWANDI-10/05/2015: The United Church of Zambia through its partners has given the people of Mwandi new life, and new hope. This was done when it officially opened the doors of the newly rehabilitated wards to the public. Mwandi Mission Hospital being the only hospital in the district is a symbol of Christ’s presence among his people.

The Deputy Minister Hon David Mabumba MP, speaking on behalf of Dr Kaingu who is the area member of Parliament thanked the United Church of Zambia together with its partners  for their holistic ministry in the area. The District Commissioner Mrs Akufuna Chabi congratulated the United Church of Zambia and its partners as they continue to fulfil their mission of ‘ all one in Christ’ through the provision of education, health, social welfare, community development, development of our youths, OVC and the Candiana Home of the aged.

Speaking on the same function the Chair of the American board(UPCUSA) Dr Venna said Mwandi is a place where people feel that their dignity as children of God  is respected  regardless of whether they are rich or poor, different religion or political party.

The General Secretary of the United Church of Zambia Rev Dr Mulambya Kabonda also said the church was highly indebted to Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta for his unrelenting support and contribution to the development of not only the hospital but to the whole mission station.

Among important dignitaries were the Guest of honour, Hon David Mabuba MP, Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Education, Mwandi District Commissioner Mrs Akufuna Chabi, Provincial Medical Officer Dr A. Silumesi, Acting District Medica Officer Mr Gideon Banda, Moderator of the United Reformed Church in the UK Elder John Ellis, World Renewal representatives, Chaz, CMMD, Governement and Parastatal organisations, public and private media, Induna lyanshimba, Ikuta, Royal family and the Barotse Royal Establishment, Mwandi board of trustees and members , Acting Education Secretary Mr Keith Waddell, Mrs Carol Sikazwe, Rev & Deac Sivile, Deac Lubinda, Deac Mary Nakamba, Acting Bishop Louis Sipalo, UCZ Acting Health Secretary, Dr Alex Simwanza. The function was graced by the Synod WCF Choir and the Dambwa B.B. brass band.
