THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED UNITED CHURCH HOUSE OFFICIALLY OPENED

LUSAKA : 10th November, 2019 –  The long awaited official opening for the newly constructed  Synod complex in Lusaka was officially opened and commissioned..

The Rev.Canon Fr. Emmanuel Chikoya, Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) General Secretary in his capacity as Guest of Honour declared the building officially opened, and His Grace the Rev. Sydney Sichilima the UCZ Synod Bishop  commissioned the building, as a mission centre to the world.

The General Secretary of the United Church of Zambia  Rev. Dr Peggy Mulambya Kabonde formally named the building as  “ the United Church House”  and further explained that it was built for prudent administration of Church mission, as well as offering space to others business entities who would like to do business in an ambient environment. By so doing the church believed that it will be contributing towards the development of the Nation and the World at large.

In attendance were: the Father of the nation, the Zambia’ first republican President, His excellency Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, the  Guest preacher from South Africa the Rev. L. Mpetshani, , Rev K. Ndebele.  Others were Synod Heads of departments/institutions, 10 Presbytery Bishops, Church workers, elders, stewards and members of the Church of the United Church of Zambia. The service was led by the Synod Communications and Media Relations Secretary, Rev Dennis Mbita Secretary.

The church service was segmented into two, beginning with the thanksgiving and dissolution of the old Synod office,  and this was followed by the dedication and naming of the new facility to the glory of God and for the Ministry of Compassion in the Republic of Zambia.

The church service at the old Synod offices  started as early as 07:00 hours, and the worshippers marched via nationalist road into Burma road and later joined the Mosi – O -Tunya road to the worship venue led by the Boys Brigade Brass Band and the Girls Brigade majorettes.

The Synod Bishop recognized the handwork and commitment of some of the members of the Synod Fundraising Committee. The service ended with the sacrament of Holy Communion in which all the communicant members of the United Church of Zambia were invited   The event was covered by various Media houses including the national broadcaster (ZNBC), Zambia Daily Mail, Daily Nations, The United Voice Radio and the UCZ Synod Media along with Busokolo Media.
