UCZ SYNOD ACQUIRES EQUIPMENT FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

OLD UCZ SYNOD HEAD QUARTERS– LUSAKA: 14/04/2022 – The United Church of Zambia Synod Community Development and Social Justice department(CDSJ) has acquired an incubator and a peanut butter making machine to empower low income mothers.
Community Development and Social Justice Secretary Deaconess Mable Sichali said the new equipment supplements on the self help projects where women are being given matching grants but will now be engaged in the production activities to support the empowerment groups.
She was speaking on 14th April , 2022 at the old UCZ Synod Headquarters when she handed over the equipment to the General Secretary for dedication.
Deaconess Sichali said the Peanut Butter making machine has the capacity of producing 200kgs of peanut Butter per hour while the incubator can accommodate up to 1100 eggs at a time.
She said the equipment was acquired with assistance from World Renew and Churches Helping Churches.
Meanwhile UCZ General Secretary Rev. Chipasha Musaba commended the CDSJ for contributing to the mission of the Church through various projects.
Rev. Musaba also thanked the members of the self-help group for their willingness to learn skills that will help them manage the projects.
The newly acquired equipment will be placed in Kanyama township in Lusaka where the Community development and social Justice department is currently working with fifteen empowerment groups comprising of vulnerable women
The Department runs a chicken project in Lusaka and Choma district and has so far acquired 1100 chickens with the help of Alegio women group.
